AI Acts, Deepseek, OpenAI's Deep Research and more [Our Weekly Freeze]

About 2 seconds after the buzz surrounding DeepSeek, OpenAI's Deep Research took over the conversation.Ā
Yet we think the real question is not about deepseek or openai.
it's about regulations and the fact that non US citizens can not use OpenAI's Deep Research just like UK residents can't use Sora. Yet there is a solution for that and it's VPN

Want to know how to access Sora or OpenAI's Deep Research even if you're not in US?

1. Subscribe to a VPN service
2. Connect to a US server using a reliable VPN
3.Ā Reload the webpage, and VoilĆ  - you Instantly have access to whatever AI tools or features you couldn't use earlier!

Ā

What do you think?

Is this truly the era of AI, or is it the golden age of VPN services?

If you ask us at FrozenLight what we think about it, weā€™ll say:
We donā€™t know which other country will sign the AI Act
Today itā€™s the European union, UK and Switzerland, and tomorrow, Ā who knows?Ā

What do you think? And most importantly ā€“
Have you used a VPN to access AI services?

Share your thoughts in the comments section below!Ā

DeepSeekā€™s rocket launch to the top of the App Store

DeepSeekā€™s rocket launch to the top of the App Store - 1 million downloads in record time - shows that when AI delivers value, users donā€™t care about murky terms of use or the dystopian undertones of ā€œAI 2.0.ā€

The honeymoon phase for tools like this is a masterclass in human behavior: convenience wins, ethics grumbles in the comments.

But hereā€™s the question - when the dust settles, are we riding the wave of progress or just feeding the cycle of hype?
The answer depends on whether we use tools like DeepSeek to think smarter, or just faster.

How can you use AI to sell smarter in 2025?

Everyone has been talking about AI.

Itā€™s often seen as a mysterious force ready to handle every task for us.

But AI isnā€™t magic.

Itā€™s just another tool.

And when used correctly, it can transform how sales teams function and operate.

AI helps salespeople work smarter, not harder.

By handling repetitive tasks, reps can refocus their time on building relationships and closing deals.

Instead of replacing sales reps, AI allows them to be more efficient and more effective than ever before.

Ā

But how is AI actually being used today to impact sales?

ā†’ More Selling Time: AI handles routine tasks like data entry, lead scoring, and follow-ups, so reps can focus on building relationships and closing deals.

ā†’ Smarter Decisions: AI analyzes customer data and deal patterns, providing actionable insights that guide sales leaders and reps toward better strategies.

ā†’Ā Faster Deal Progression: With AI streamlining prospecting and follow-up, teams can move deals through the pipeline more quickly, improving conversion rates and revenue growth.

ā†’ And much much moreā€¦

Ā

AI is no longer a buzzword. Itā€™s a game-changing solution that helps sales teams focus on what matters most.

And itā€™s not about sitting back and letting AI do the work for you.

Itā€™s about learning how to leverage AI to make selling faster, smarter, and more effective.

Let it go, let it goā€¦ Do you know when to ā€˜Elsaā€™ your leads? And no, I donā€™t mean singing! I mean actually letting them go! ā„ļø

Every salesperson faces this struggle - when do you finally let go of a lead?

We all keep leads in the pipeline just to make it look full, hoping theyā€™ll magically convert. But does that really help? Or are we just fooling ourselves?

AI wonā€™t do an Elsa for you, but it can create different options that help you see the possibilities and better understand the potential outcomes of letting go.

Hereā€™s how to start:

First, check whatā€™s left if you ā€œdo an Elsaā€

Ask AI:
šŸ”¹ What happens if I remove all leads that havenā€™t moved in X days?
šŸ”¹ What will my pipeline look like if I close all leads that havenā€™t engaged with my brand in the last X days?

Now, look at the optimistic side - whatā€™s guaranteed to close?

Ask AI:
šŸ”¹ What will my numbers look like with only the leads that are sure to close in the next 90 days?
šŸ”¹ Based on last yearā€™s trends, whatā€™s my best-case close rate with leads above a 60% probability?

AI wonā€™t ā€œdo an Elsaā€ for you, but looking at your pipeline from both the sure things and the risky bets will help you find the right balance.

At the end of the day, AIā€™s real magic isnā€™t in crunching numbers - itā€™s in knowing what to ask.

Soā€¦ ready to do Elsa the smart way? - Let's talk.

AI is a thinking revolution. What you believe AI is what you think it can do will set the tune of what you will gain from it.

Our Weekly Freeze - Deepseek Starting a War šŸ‹

WELCOME to our Weekly Freeze - our AI News Update! šŸš€

Bringing you a one-stop summary of everything happening in the world of AI and within our community!

This week, unless youā€™ve been living under a rock, it was all about Chinaā€™s DeepSeek.
It made waves everywhere - stocks dropped, eyebrows were raised, and big questions started flying.

The first question: What is DeepSeek all about, and what makes it different - besides being open-source from China?

This was covered extensively, and if you want a quick understanding of DeepSeek, check out Andrew Ethan Zengā€™s YouTube breakdown.
In short, itā€™s all about reinforcement training and less human involvement.

This is why it is cost-effective but also comes at the price of less consistency, relevance, and, letā€™s just say, the ability to understand whatā€™s appropriate to say and when.

Meanwhile, interviews with CEOs from OpenAI, Nvidia, Google, and more have been making the rounds as the finance world went into a frenzy with stocks dropping and people questioning how DeepSeek supposedly developed an LLM for under $6 million - while others need billions to keep AI development moving.

This is where we came across a JPMorgan article declaring the AI Cold War to be both scandalous and insightful - definitely worth a read.

But the most interesting conversation of the week wasnā€™t just about DeepSeekā€™s cost - it was about where AI data is stored and the rising awareness, for the first time, of the importance of knowing where it is stored and the growing concerns about its origins in China.

Wherever you stand on this, thatā€™s for you to decide. But with other players like Perplexity now integrating DeepSeek, knowing where your data is stored is becoming a bigger question. Tobias Zwingmannā€™s tutorial is a great resource on how to check your AI data storage efficiently.

Before we wrap up for the week, hereā€™s a reminder from the Frozen Light team:
Make DeepSeek a value conversation - donā€™t rush to cancel your ChatGPT account before getting clarity on your needs.

Here are a few things to consider:

ā—Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Is reinforcement learning enough for your use?

ā—Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Where is your data stored?

ā—Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Where is the development team located?

ā—Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā  Do cultural differences impact how the model operates?

Make sure you understand your position before deciding which LLM model to use.

DeepSeek gave us a lot to talk about this week! For more freezing AI updates, donā€™t forget to join our Frozen AI community, where we keep you enlightened and updated on everything happening in AI - especially in AI sales and marketing, supported by our global experts.

Stay warm, but not too warm! šŸ˜‰

šŸ’” AI Answers: The New Featured Snippets?

Googleā€™s John Mueller compares the current debate around AI overview results to the early days of featured snippets.
He believes user expectations will evolve, and while AI-driven answers may frustrate some sites, they also open doors for new optimization opportunities.

Here are the exact words by Muller:

I just want to say that all of these discussions we had, I donā€™t know what was it like 5 or 10 years ago? Featured snippets. Itā€™s basically the same thing, right?

Itā€™s like this is very visible on top and itā€™s like, ā€˜I hate it.ā€™ And then a year later, everyoneā€™s like, oh, how do I get in and how do I optimize for it? How do I appear more visibly?

And my feeling isā€¦ without kind of any big crystal ball, is that this is something that is going to evolve in a similar direction and I think user expectations definitely change. I think AI type answers make sense for a lot of queries and thatā€™s going to be frustrating for some sites that focus on those queries, kind of like with featured snippets as well. And that also provides a lot of opportunities.

I agree regarding us rushing to get panic by any new chnage in Google search results
yet I think this is a bit problematic comparison.

Why?
Featured snippets are way more prominent compared to a list of sources cited in an AI overview result where the only way to get to these sources is clicking on a tiny icon of link (see image below):

What do you think?

Apple, the company that once turned "Think Different" into a global mantra, seems to have settled for "Think Cautious"

Apple, the company that once turned "Think Different" into a global mantra, seems to have settled for "Think Cautious" in the AI arms race. While OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic redefine the term ā€œfast followerā€ with monthly breakthroughs, Apple is busy rolling out AI tools that overheat devices, churn out fake news, and underwhelm nearly everyoneā€”including their own user base. Sure, privacy-first AI sounds noble, but can you win a Formula 1 race in a Volvo while your competitors are lapping you in Bugattis? The critical question: Is Appleā€™s devotion to hardware integration an asset in the age of ubiquitous intelligence, or will it turn their walled garden into a gilded cage? In the generative AI era, the conversation is shifting from ā€œWhat can my device do?ā€ to ā€œHow smart is the intelligence I can access?ā€ Right now, Apple's answer feels less like the future and more like a 404 error.
